Stronger Communities Partnership

The Stronger Communities Partnership is a self-directing part of the Sustainable Essex Partnership, responsible for promoting stronger communities.

Its work is to promote three key roles of citizens:

  • as democratic voters and taxpayers who are able to influence public decisions in a range of ways;
  • as volunteers who through voluntary and community associations are able to take the initiative in shaping places and the way life can be lived in them; and
  • as members of society who gets fair treatment in terms of inclusion and access to and outcomes from public services.

The voluntary and community sector has a crucial part to play in this work. The Partnership should therefore act as the key forum for developing stronger relationships between the statutory and third sectors.

On 14 May 2010, representatives from partner agencies came together to discuss community cohesion at an event organised by the Stronger Communities Partnership. Details of the event and photos from the day can be found in the "other" files folder on the right hand side of this page.

Engage Essex

Please click here for a link to Engage Essex, the community engagement portal which was designed:

  • To allow members of the Essex Partnership to share details of historic, current and planned consultations occurring throughout the county amongst partnership members and the public
  • To share outcomes and actions that may arise as a result of these consultations
  • To directly engage with partnership members and the public through online engagement tools such as questionnaires, short polls, online focus groups.

 Essex Engagement Toolkit

This Toolkit is designed to help public engagement practitioners in statutory and other organisations to engage effectively so that the public have a good quality, co-ordinated and interesting experience.
The Toolkit is structured so that you can ‘plug in’ the aims of the activity at the beginning and it will lead you through steps you need to do to achieve them. It contains basic advice and simple tools to enable you to engage effectively.
