Relatives & Residents Association (Essex)

The aim: to establish a local branch in Essex of the Residents and Relatives Association.

Objectives of the R&RA (Essex):

  • To help older people, their families and carers to make good, informed decisions as to whether to enter residential care; the choice of a care home; the processes of contracting, funding; ensuring that needs are assessed and responded to.
  • To support older people, their families and carers through these processes, both practically and emotionally
  • To help residents, their families and their carers achieve the best possible quality of life and help them deal with issues arising following admission and during their stay in residential care
  • To help and support the owners, managers and staff of residential care homes to offer residents and prospective residents the best possible quality of care
  • To act as a voice for the groups of people mentioned above in the forums at which policy affecting their wellbeing is decided
