Tendring Local Strategic Partnership

      Tendring Together 2016

The Tendring Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) is a voluntary partnership that brings together the public, private and voluntary sector agencies responsible for the provision of services across the District.

The aim of the Tendring Local Strategic Partnership is  to create the environment in which various services and  initiatives  support one another and work together to improve the quality of life in the Tendring District.

The Tendring Local Strategic Partnership allows decision making to be coordinated between those responsible for service provision within its boundary.  It provides a forum to draw key service providers into a single body.  Importantly, it allows the communities within the authority’s boundary to work together with key agencies.

The vision, Tendring Together 2016, of the Tendring Local Strategic Partnership has been developed by considering what sort of changes we want to bring about to shape the District over the next decade. We want to ensure that:

  • By 2016 Tendring will have a thriving and prosperous economy. All our residents will be able to access a safe and healthy quality of life in an attractive environment.
  • Each of our communities will offer a range of new housing and other important services and facilities, and children and young people will have the opportunity to have a good start in life.

Thematic Priorities:

  • Health – The population of the district is able to live longer, healthier lives less limited by long-term illness
  • Economic Development & Business Support – Tendring has a stronger and more dynamic economy together with a skilled workforce
  • Children and Young People – Striving for every child and young person in Tendring to be healthy, safe, successful, make a positive contribution and achieve economic wellbeing
  • Crime and Disorder – Reduce both the incidence and fear of crime and disorder and make the area a safer place to live
  • Community Regeneration – Narrowing the gap between the most disadvantaged areas and elsewhere
  • Environment – Good quality housing and transport services, introducing effective carbon management, promoting adaption to climate change and maintaining and protecting the district’s physical and natural environment.

This vision is articulated through the District's Sustainable Community Strategy.

Essex Strategy and LAA objectives

The Essex Strategy

The Essex Strategy is the 10 year strategic vision for the county and is implemented alongside 12 Sustainable Communities Strategies (SCS) which are unique to each District.  However issues exist which are common to all, identified as the 'Wicked Issues' facing the County through the 2009 Essex Strategy Review process, these are:

  1. Reducing Health Inequalities
  2. Safeguarding the Most Vulnerable
  3. Improving Educational Attainment and Skills
  4. Improving Community Safety
  5. Strengthening Communities
  6. Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth
  7. Mitigating Climate Change

The Local Area Agreement

The Essex Local Area Agreement (LAA) is an agreement with the Government and the county’s Local Strategic Partnerships, the voluntary sector and other public services including Health and the Police. The agreement sets outcomes and targets to be achieved over a three-year period.  Essentially it is the delivery arm of the Essex Strategy with the overarching vision: -

“To support Essex people to liberate their potential to enjoy the best quality of life in Britain”
