Punctuality Improvement Partnership

The purpose of the partnership is to comply with the Department for Transport requirement to improve bus punctuality as specified in ECC s Local Transport Plan (LTP). Bus operators need incentives and monitoring to improve their punctuality. Current punctuality stands at about 70% of bus journeys arriving no earlier than one minute ahead of schedule and no more than 5 minutes late. The LTP target is to improve to 90% by 2010/11. It developed and delivers an Action Plan, with ECC using LTP funding and the bus operators funding their initiatives. Monitoring of punctuality is undertaken both manually and by the use of real time information.
