Parish Paths Partnership
A scheme that focuses on many small partnerships rather than one large one. To give people the resources and skills to enable them to actively look after their local PRoW network; promote community involvement; promote local awareness of PRoW and the surrounding environment; and support local people, businesses, farmers and contractors by ensuring any work generated through the schemes is offered to the local community first. Local action to maintain PRoWs is cost-effective for ECC and generates community cohesion, publicity, promotion and linkage to community activities such as guided walks and producing walking guides.
Parishes develop works programs for ECC approval and funding, and to seek external funding for large projects from the Lottery Fund, etc. ECC trains parish-based groups in how to apply for funding, and how to deliver the approved programs. The Parish groups use local volunteers, contractors and Parish handymen to deliver their programs.
Led by ECC's Safety and Network Manager Rosemary Welch and managed by five ECC staff in County Hall
