Headland Management Scheme
The purpose of the partnership is:
- To encourage landowners to maintain field-edge PRoW and earn some extra income; promote rural businesses; involve local communities; improve access to PRoW; encourage more people to use their local PRoW network as a mode of rural transport; improve relations between landowners and the ECC s PRoW team; and reduce trespass on other land, protect wildlife areas and conserve the countryside.
- It is more cost-effective for local action to maintain the PRoW network than ECC using its works contractors.
- ECC promotes the scheme and recruits farmers and landowners, assigns work to the volunteers at a specified rate of payment, monitors the farmers work and pays the farmers. The
