Organisation: Brentwood Council for Voluntary Services (CVS)

A Council for Voluntary Service is a local independent voluntary organisation formed and run by the local voluntary groups to promote, support and develop effectiveness of voluntary action.
The first CVS was set up at the end of the last century to co-ordinate voluntary effort and promote new organisations to fill gaps in local services. In 1945 CVS linked up to form a national body NACVS which now has a membership of 230 CVS's throughout England.
Brentwood CVS was launched in January 1993 and is one 0f 12 across Essex.
